MPI Research and Shanghai Medicilon Announce Shanghai-Based Joint Venture
MATTAWAN, Mich.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--MPI Research and Shanghai Medicilon are pleased to announce a new joint venture to form
Medicilon-MPI Preclinical Research (Shanghai) LLC. Located initially at the Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park in Shanghai, China, the
company will open a 50,000 ft2 preclinical testing facility in the Chuansha Economic Park in early 2008. This new facility will meet

Shanghai Medicilon Continues to Expand
Shanghai Medicilon is pleased to announce that it is currently moving 150 scientists into a newly built 50,000 sq ft. chemistry facility.
The new building is one of a cluster of four to be completed, with one building for chemistry, two for preclinical studies and one for
biology. Shanghai Medicilon currently employs a total of 250 scientists and staff.

building, with a total lab space of 85,000 sq ft to scale up Medicilon service capacities in chemistry, preclinic and biology.

Medicilon’s Preclinical Service Laboratory Receives the Second GLP Audit/Inspection/Training from USA
Medicilon’s preclinical service laboratories including bioanalytical laboratory and animal study laboratory have obtained their
second GLP audit/inspection/training from the Pacific Rim Consulting, Inc., West Coast Quality Training Institute during August 22-
26, 2006. Medicilon will further promote bioanalytical services along with animal studies with US GLP-compliance in the year of
2006.

Medicilon’s Bioanalytical Laboratory Receives First GLP Audits from USA
Medicilon’s bioanalytical lab has obtained its first GLP audit from the USA on March 17, 2006. Medicilon will further promote
bioanalytical services along with animal studies with US GLP compliance in the year 2006.
Medicilon’s 2,000 sq. ft., bioanalytical laboratory, located at the Zhangjaing Hi-Tech Park in Shanghai, is equipped with LC/MS/MS,
HPLC and other analytical equipments. Medicilon’s bioanalytical laboratory has been authorized by the SFDA (Chinese FDA) as a
strategic partner for several clinical trial bases in Shanghai, including the Clinical trials base of Shanghai Ji-An Central Hospital and
Shanghai Mental Health Center. Medicilon’s bioanalytical department has facilitated several NDA filings to the SFDA

Medicilon’s Animal Facility Receives Accreditation
Medicilon announced that its new animal facility was approved by the Shanghai Administration Office of Laboratory Animals on
December 26, 2005. This represents further strategic expansion of Medicilon’s preclinical ADMET services offered to
pharmaceutical and biotech companies.
The 5,000 sq. ft. animal facility, located at the Zhangjaing Hi-Tech Park in Shanghai, has SPF (Specific Pathogen Free) rooms for
mice and rats, along with conventional rooms for large animals, including dogs, monkeys and rabbits. The breeding of monkeys in
Medicilon’s animal facility was approved by the Shanghai Minister of Forest on March 10, 2006. With monkeys in Medicilon's facility,
Medicilon can now provide pharmacokinetic, pharmacology and toxicology studies ranging from small animals to primates, in
addition to the current chemistry and structural biology capabilities.
Medicilon has provided animal studies services to companies around the world, including USA, Germany, Australia, UK and
Chinese pharmaceutical and biotech companies.
